Hello all you future Health ‘Nuts’!
I hope you enjoyed our health segment tonight – Stephany and I sure had fun shooting it
As promised I’ll pass along two of my favorite raw recipes:
1. Pineapple Ginger Apple Reviver
This is a fairly easy drink to make, provided you have a juicer. If not, you can still mix the ingredients in a powerful blender and make a smoothie out of it. It will have pulp in it, but just consider that your daily dose of fiber. If possible, try to stick to organic ingredients. Also try to eat all ingredients at room temperature, it’s not such a shock to the body that way.
I large, ripe pineapple
4 – 5 medium Granny Smith apples
A 1″ chunk of fresh ginger root
Juice or blend all ingredients and enjoy!
2. Creamy Carrot Ginger Soup with Lime
This is from one of my favorite raw cook books, Raw Food – Real World. It’s filling and easy to make and you can even warm it slightly (under 118 degrees) to help take the chill out of a winters night.
3 cups carrot juice
1 small, ripe avocado
1/3 cup coconut meat (from young Thai Coconuts)
1/4 cup lime juice
2 tablespoons agave nectar
1 tablespoon minced ginger
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
1/4 teasppon sea salt
a few sprigs of cilantro for that extra kick
2 tablespoons lime juice or oil (to drizzle as a garnish)
Yummy!

Dagmar you need to look into a vitamix, alot better than a juicer!

So, my sister told me i had to watch the 11 o’clock news on 46 last night. My initial response was ‘why would i do that?’ seeing as i never watch the 11 o’clock local news. ‘Just watch it’ she assured me. I grew impatient after awhile and asked why, exactly, i was performing this task.
‘Dagmar, the weather lady is a raw foodist’
me: ‘hmmmm, i doubt it, and why would they talk about that during the news?’
‘Just watch’
I did, and was pleasantly surprised, and a little shocked that a significant amount of time was dedicated to the subject on the local news, and in such a favorable light.
Anyway. I’m a local Atlanta raw foodist as well. I have a blog about my raw food misadventures in Atlanta:
http://www.vegannosaurus.com
of which i have been woefully negligent in updating in recent months due to work and life getting in the way.
I know quite a few raw foodists around town, and we attempt to get together once in awhile, although we’ve been quite negligent at that as well only succeeding twice in the last 6 months. I’ll keep you in the loop if you are interested. Its a really cool group of people, not a weird hippie extremist thing, just a bunch of people who happen to share an interest in raw food.
Feel free to keep in touch if you ever want to share a meal at Loving It Live, or R. Thomas, or just want to swap recipes and raw food talk.

Where in the Atlanta area can I get some of the foods and drinks you featured? Keep up the good work Dagmar.

Hi Dagmar, Thanks for sharing your recipes. I have tried vegan diets because of my health. I get so bored with eating the same things. Your newscast has helped me realize how important it is to prepare a variety of foods. I would appreciate any other recipes you have to share.
You remind me of myself before I got sick. I have Lupus and have been sick for almost 4 years. I have gained 50 pounds and gone from a size 6 to a 16. I hope this diet helps me be healthier. I believe it will.
Thanks again!!! I’m a big fan of yours!!!!!
